All Cozied Up

Boots: Sam Edelman
Leggings: Similar from ModCloth
Shirt: Similar from Lulu*s
Coat: Forever 21
Necklace: Target
Bracelets: Similar from DailyLook
Lipstick: Milani

I officially have a new favorite coat, and it just so happens that it is an exact replica of the blanket I have on my bed. It's so comfortable that all I ever want to do is cuddle up in it and drink hot chocolate. It also happens to be extremely chic and goes with everything I own.

Liebster Award

Yesterday I woke up to find a tweet from the lovely Marissa at Makin' it with Marissa saying that she'd nominated me for the Liebster award. While not an actual award, the Liebster award is a promotion meant to introduce the world to other up-and-coming blogs that are worth checking out. As a much lesser-known blogger myself, I was honored to be chosen by a blogger I admire so dearly as a blog worth reading.

So, here’s how it works: I answer the questions then nominate up to 11 other up-and-coming bloggers of the same genre blog of mine to partake in the same process.

How did you decide on the title of your blog?

I saw something similar to my title on Tumblr and it really hit home. As a college student, I'm obviously on a budget, but I pride myself on being fabulous despite my minimal funds.

What made you decide to start your blog?

I've always loved fashion and fashion-based media. I also have a journalism background but found I always preferred writing blog posts to newspaper articles. I had to have a Blogger blog when I went on exchange and found I really liked it as a way to express myself. I started this blog in particular because I felt (and still feel!) I have something new to offer the world of style blogging.

What is your Starbucks order?

12 oz latte, be it at Starbucks or the cafe on campus or a local coffee shop.

What is your favorite place to shop?

I love consignment stores. I know I talk about this, like, way too often, but I love the wide range of styles and the deals that I can score without working too hard.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I have so many trips on the back burner! France and Spain with Lauren, Eastern Europe with my dad, Disneyland with Erin, and Canada with Maddie are just a few. My usual answer to this question, though, is the Middle East.

What is your guilty pleasure?

I never thought I'd be one of those owners that dresses her dog in stupid outfits, but I love dressing up my pup. I try to only dress her when it's necessary – i.e. cold weather, and rain – but sometimes it's all too cute to resist!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A photo posted by Hannah Goldstein (@thehannahgold) on

I have no idea what I will be doing in 5 years! Like, not even a semblance of an idea! But I do know I want to in a position to do what I want, be that career-wise, traveling, or otherwise.

What is your favorite song right now?

I'm obsessed with Willow Smith right now. She has a beautiful voice, both musically and as far as her message is concerned. Check out my 8tracks profile to see more of my favorite music.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to other new bloggers?

Find your voice and don't ever be afraid to use it. Even though it may often feel like you're one of millions of others with the same intention in blogging, you are unique in that you have a different perspective because it is your perspective. Don't try to mimic other blogs and don't scare yourself into being bland.

Where do you see your blog going in the next year?

A photo posted by Hannah Goldstein (@thehannahgold) on

Again... I have no idea. As much as I try to plan and predict, it seems like everything I expect ends up going just slightly differently. I hope to strengthen my brand and readership in the next year, and continue to use it to express myself.

Where does your blog inspiration come from?

A photo posted by Hannah Goldstein (@thehannahgold) on

I primarily find inspiration in my passion to express my expensive sense of style on a less-than-desirable budget.

I nominate the following blogs to participate:

Celebrate in the City

It's almost impossible to forget my mom's birthday: January 23rd, or 1-2-3. This year my mom made a point of coming to Seattle with my dad and sister to celebrate, which was particularly exciting considering she'd also come up for my birthday in November. Having family in town means having an excuse to do super touristy things I probably wouldn't do on my own. I even went to the Space Needle for the first time!

Blue and green lights to support the Seahawks in their second Superbowl in a row! Everything in the city features either blue and green or some 12th man paraphernalia.

My dad and sister are definitely the art buffs of the family, and spent at least an hour staring at this single painting. Meanwhile, my mom and I covered the entirety of the Seattle Art Museum in the same time it took for them to go through one exhibit.

The top of the Space Needle was even more photogenic than the Space Needle itself.

All we were missing for the perfect family weekend was my brother. There's always next trip!

Fashionista Friday: Day & Night

Boots: Similar from GoJane
Skirt: Similar from Nasty Gal
Shirt: Similar from Gap
Scarf: Similar from Romwe
Coat: Similar from Chicnova

On any given day, this beautiful young woman can be found wearing all (or mostly all) black. So, it makes sense that the day I chose to feature her on CollegeFashionista she was wearing all-black basics. The pops of color from her jacket and scarf make this look an easy transition from day to night... But you can read more about that in my latest CollegeFashionista post!

OOTD: Mirror Mirror

Dress: Similar from Lookbook Store
Cardigan: Similar from Forever 21
Belt: Similar from Mango
Jacket: H&M
Earrings: Similar from Stella & Dot
Lipstick: Similar from Benefit (in "talk flirty")

I'm currently on the market for a steady photographer for my blog. I love taking pictures of others and of the events I attend and cool things I do, but when it comes to taking pictures of my own outfits I'm not super capable. While I'm still looking, I'm experimenting with the famed mirror selfie. As much as I hate to admit it, I kind of love the mirror selfie.

Baby Shower in Pink & Blue

My cousin and his wife are currently expecting twins: one boy and one girl. This is their first (and second) baby, so my mom really went all out on their baby shower. Even though I was just home, I flew back again to celebrate with the whole family. It was so much fun and the party was cuter than I will ever be able to explain... So here are some pictures!

The baby names they've picked out are Audrey and Oliver. To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't decide to name their daughter Hannah, but I guess there's still time.

Can you tell that the theme of the party was pink and blue? For the record, that's also the colors of Audrey and Oliver's nursery and all their stuff.

Brendan won this game using his Harvard-level math skills. I lost because I only have the mathematic knowledge of a sophomore in high school. I still got to eat the candies, though.

I also lost this game. In my defense, I didn't want to play in the first place.

I made this sign and I'm so proud of how it turned out.
